The following personal narratives, poems, essays and other pieces of writing were submitted to this website by local LGBTQ+ youth, and were inspired by the following prompts:

To solicit work from local LGBTQ+ youth, we held a LGBTQ+ Youth Writing Contest.
LGBTQ+ Youth Writing Contest
The following are the first, second and third place winners in two age categories: 13 – 17 years old, and 18 – 21 years old. Click on a winner’s name to read their story.

LGBTQ+ Youth Art Workshop
In addition to the writing contest, we also held an art workshop for LGBTQ+ youth in the community. Facilitated by Toya Northington of ArtThrust, youth participants were invited to use art to explore feelings about family, health, and growing up LGBTQ+ through art.
